Curriculum

**Thank you for coming to the Celebration of Learning!! We had a GREAT turnout and the kids loved it! It is so great to see how proud they are of themselves and to see them take ownership of their learning!  It means so much that you made the time to come!  Thank you!

Reading:
Next week, students will begin to research about the incubator to prepare for the arrival of the chicken eggs on Tuesday.  After that, students will continue to research about eggs and the life cycle of an egg.

Book Baggies:
Please remind students to return their book baggies on Friday along with bookmarks and tracking sheets.  That way, if needed, I can change their levels and we can keep track of the books they are taking home.

Writing:
This week we reflected on our learning this year.  Students thought back through the year and wrote about some of their favorite learning.  Next week, we will be working on our research and note taking for our chick/life cycle unit!

Math:
Next week, we will begin unit 8.  Students will learn about making shapes, halves, fourths, and dividing shapes.  These are lessons 8.1-8.5.

o I can ask and answer questions about bar graphs
o I can solve number grid puzzles

Unit 8 IXL Skills - Students may use IXL to help them practice these skills.

Social Studies/Science
This week we began our learning about chicks and their life cycle.  Ms. Ellen came from Tollgate and challenged the students to hatch some chicken eggs for her.  Then students came up with some need to knows and finally, they decided that we needed to know about an incubator before the eggs come so that we are prepared when they arrive.  We will begin researching the incubator in preparation for the eggs' arrival on Tuesday of next week.  We will then continue to research after the eggs arrive to decide what we need to know in order to help keep the eggs safe and to make sure that they hatch!

MakerSpace/Play
We are learning a lot about how to problem solve and work together during play!
