Curriculum

** Note on Finger Spinners - We know students really enjoy these, however, it would be helpful if they were kept at home.  Students are using them at inappropriate times and I am afraid that one will get lost.  Thank you for your help!

Reading/Writing/Science:
We are combining many of our subjects with our Chick Life Cycle unit.  Students are reading informational texts about chicks, their eggs, their life cycle, and more.  We are learning to take notes on what we read and then write informational pieces of writing about what we've learned.

Book Baggies:
Please remind students to return their book baggies on Friday along with bookmarks and tracking sheets.  That way, if needed, I can change their levels and we can keep track of the books they are taking home.

Math:
Next week, we will continue to work on unit 8. We got a little behind this week as we were focused on the chick eggs and making sure we had what we needed for them.  Therefore, we will be working on lessons 8.5-8.10 next week.  These lessons teach the students about combining 2D shapes to make new shapes, identifying 3D shapes, telling time to the half hour, and number grid puzzles.

Unit 8 Skills
I can build shapes with defining attributes
I can identify 3D shapes using faces and corners
o I can divide shapes into 2 or 4 equal parts
o I can tell time to the half hour
o I can ask and answer questions about bar graphs
o I can solve number grid puzzles

Unit 8 IXL Skills - Students may use IXL to help them practice these skills.

MakerSpace/Play
We are learning a lot about how to problem solve and work together during play!
