Week 2

Thank you for another great week!  This week, we continued to practice routines and expectations to prepare for a great year!

Curriculum

Reading:
This week, we learned about how to Read to Self.  We have been working on building our stamina in Reading to Self.  Next week, we will continue to build stamina in Reading to Self but also learn how to Read with Someone.

Writing:
In writing, we focused a lot on the routines of our writing time.  Next week we will begin our first writing unit which is Launching with Concept Books.  We will be looking at mentor texts to help guide our own writing.

Math:
This week, we learned about Math Writing and Math by Myself.  Students are learning the routines for these two parts of our Math Workshop.  We will continue to practice these next week.  In Math Writing, we are working on solving word problems and explaining how we solve it.  In Math by Myself, we are working on Number Sense.

Science/Social Studies:
In social studies this week, we began discussing digital citizenship.  Students are learning to use technology responsibly and safely.  Next week we will begin to discuss citizenship and what it means to be a good citizen.
